Panda "Can we play?"
" Panda and I started with the K9 Kapers puppy class as soon as Panda was old enough in 2006. Panda is an Australian Shepherd, and was very, very timid when we started the class. Panda was so unsure of everything that she would not get more than two feet from me, even for treats of real chicken! By the end of the Puppy Kapers, Panda was doing very well, and would play with the other puppies and would also go to all the other humans asking for attention. She will now go up to new people and dogs. Panda is still timid, but now with a little work she will try new things. Karen was always really good at working Panda in small steps, and showing me how to work with Panda until she was ready to move forward. Now Panda is willing to work not only for Karen, but some of the other people that she knows. She’s made great strides in her training and I’m looking forward to all the progress she’ll make in the future.

Marz & Scamp 4 pt Major at COPS Specialty
Every now and then, Jupiter aligns with Mars (or Marz and Scamp in this case) and something pleasantly unexpected happens. Well, you hope it will happen. This is the first major AKC point win (4) for our dog Y'Cymry McKinley (Scamp) who is on his way to a championship. This was at the breed specialty show in Shelton, WA. If it had been any closer to us, it would have been in our back yard. It is always an honor to win but getting the points at a breed specialty show was that much more meaningful. The two of us had a later start in life in the dog ring, but so many people have been kind and helped us along the way. Lessons and practice do pay off...and we have so much more to learn and practice!
I couldn't have done this without the great instruction I received through Carol Woodward in the handling class at K9Kapers. She really helped me build my confidence and skills and it has been an added bonus for Scamp to train with different dogs. What a difference this has made in his comfort in the ring. Scamp and I look forward to coming to class and training.
(thanks for allowing me to "brag")
